Written and directed by Scott Hansen & Desiree Connell of Digital Thunderdome Studios, this full length horror anthology was filmed on location and in studios in the greater Atlanta area over the course of two years, mostly.
In my capacity of the Production Designer, I gleefully served as the veritable “right hand man” to Mr. Hansen as I was able to see his vision with fidelity and create the sets they both needed to tell the story of revenge in the cursed town of New Salem.
We were consistently able to hit our deadlines without exceeding our budget while constantly surprising cast and crew alike by surpassing expectations on a regular basis. Our sets were always professionally maintained while still being fun to work on, and safety was always a priority.
My responsibilities and duties in this project included:
Set construction and decoration, property fabrications, special effects make-up, weapon handling, pyrotechnics, some gaffing and electric, fog wrangling, and blood. I made lots and lots of blood.
Bad Candy follows local Halloween stories of both myth and lessons learned in the community of New Salem. With its annual Psychotronic FM Halloween show, re-enactment radio DJs Chilly Billy and Paul weave the tales of the supernatural of years gone by. In this small town it’s a grimy ending for most, but will a few good souls survive?
I’m as pleased to share this behind the scenes footage and process gallery with you almost as much as I am happy to be given the opportunity to help Scott and Des tell their story. (I got to decorate eight different homes and businesses like it was Halloween, how often does someone get to do that?)
Okay and I guess the bad news is I need to make eight galleries here.
